Paloma navštívi Gibbsovho otca Jacksona a následne so svojimi spoločníkmi rozstrieľa jeho obchodík. Jacksonovi sa našťastie podarí z miesta včas zmiznúť. Potom žije niekoľko mesiacov pod ochranou NCIS u svojho syna, zatiaľ čo tím pátra po Palome. Gibbs s Tonym sa vydávajú do západnej Virginie, kde došlo k núdzovému pristátiu helikoptéry.
