Mladý pár se snaží uspat dítě, když zaslechnou výstřely a uvidí ženu, jak se sklání nad mrtvým mužem v námořnické uniformě. Případu se ujímá detektiv Philip McCadden. Obětí je 63letý kapitán Joseph Norton. Ženou, která se nad ním skláněla, pak Gibbsova bývalá tchýně Joanne Fieldingová. Bezpečnostní kamery nic nezachytily, což znamená, že pachatel musel oblast dobře znát. Joanne vypovídá, že se vracela s Nortonem z večírku, když ji Joe požádal o ruku.
