Seriál Zvířecí policie Houston sleduje práci členů jednotky vyšetřující kruté zacházení se zvířaty z houstonské organizace SPCA. Doprovází je při záchraně, rehabilitování a hledání nových domovů pro nechtěná, zanedbaná či týraná zvířata. V čele týmu stojí vrchní vyšetřovatel Charles Jantzen a na jednotku pečlivě dohlíží prezidentka houstonské organizace SPCA Patti Mercerová. Osmičlenný tým speciálně vycvičených vyšetřovatelů je nepřetržitě v pohotovosti, aby mohl reagovat na naléhavé případy a nahlášená týrání zvířat. V této sérii členové organizace SPCA zachrání 60 psů z domu ženy hromadící zvířata. Sama spí na verandě a psy ponechává bez dozoru vládnout domu. Ti po letech nedostatečné péče zdivočeli a jsou agresivní. Podaří se týmu zvířata bezpečně odchytit? Vyšetřovatel Maverick Wagner usiluje o spravedlnost v případě smrti dvou psů husky.
